Digital Literacy
As I began my journey into instructional technology at the University of Missouri in 2014, I found that in a world rife with inequality and job uncertainty, I needed a way to give student basic digital skills to allow them to become safe, marketable, internet-savvy 21st century citizens.
In Summer 2017, I participated in the first OPRFHS Summer School Digital Literacy class as a teacher assistant. However, in the Spring of 2018, in collaboration with members of the OPRHFS Business department, I oversaw the revamp of the summer school digital literacy curriculum to focus on the Google Education Suite, keyboarding skills, and pertinent Microsoft Suite skills. In Spring 2020, I again revamped the Digital Literacy curriculum for a remote learning environment focusing solely on web 2.0 productivity skills and keyboarding.

Curriculum Alignment:
Student Standards: 1A, 1C, 1D, 2A, 2B, 2C, 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 4A, 5A, 5B, 6A, 6B, 6C, 6D, 7C, 7D
During Summer 2020 and 2021 I remotely taught several sections of Digital Literacy during OPRFHS Summer School.
During Summer 2022 I taught several sections of Digital Literacy face to face during OPRFHS Summer School.
Through the implementation of digital literacy curriculum, I truly believe schools can provide equitable access to digital skills that adults and children alike can utilize to lessen the digital divide between adults and students, low-income and wealthy residents, and learners of all races/ethnicities.
